Top 10 Celebrities Who Were ABUSED!

Domestic violence is something that exists in our society and  unfortunately still going strong! Rape, child abuse, molestation is a major cause for concern and if you think it is the average woman who gets victimized, you are wrong! This is not just an issue limited to the masses, even celebs’ life is not that rosy. From film-stars to beauty queens to TV actresses, no section of the glamour world has been spared from its clutches. Quite a few celebrities have recently opened up about their horrific experiences to reveal their haunting tales.

  1. Kalki Koechlin - In an interview to news channel, NDTV, Kalki revealed that she was sexually abused as a child. She further added that she didn't want to declare to the world about this specific event in her life as it just becomes a "shocking headline" but somebody "who has gone through CSA (child sexual abuse) is not a headline." She also said "For me, it's not a one day headline, it's something that's a reality I have lived with for a long time".
  2.  Nikita Gokhale  - Model-cum- actress Nikita Gokhale shocked everyone when she revealed that she was sexually abused by her teacher when she was in ninth standard. A Sanchar Express report says that that one of her tuition teacher made attempts to hold her body parts and capture her photographs through his mobile camera. She also told the publication on how the teacher took pictures of her assets and then blackmailed her.
  3. Zeenat Aman - A former model, beauty queen and  successful actress, Zeenat’s married life and her relationship both were unfortunately far away from being perfect. In the 80s Zeenat's relationship with already married Sanjay Khan faded on a terrible note. There were reports in the print that Sanjay brutally bashed up Zeenat in front of his wife in hotel Taj. He thrashed her so much that Zeenat got a permanent scar on her eye. After this incident, She went into the state of shock and had to be injected with anti-depressants three times a day. She then got married to Mazhar Khan. Unfortunately the actress was physically battered in this relationship also.
  4. Paridhi Sharma – Zee TV’s show Jodha Akbar's lead actress Paridhi Sharma, has accused the show's director, Santaram Verma, of sexually assaulting her. The pretty actress plays the role of Jodha Bai in the serial. According to reports by a leading publication the director of the show has allegedly been sexually harassing her over a period of time.
  5. Aishwarya Rai - Aishwarya after the split up with Salman Khan was found saying that she had to endure Salman’s alcoholism and was at the receiving end of his abuses and infidelity. They evenrually broke up when Salman indirectly confessed to her that he was cheating on her. In 2000, Aishwarya's parents also filed a police complaint against Salman Khan for stalking, threatening and trying to forcefully enter Aishwarya’s house.
  6. Anoushka Shankar - The daughter of legendary sitar player Ravi Shankar, this famed sitar player admitted last year that she was also a victim of sexual abuse in her childhood. Speaking to the media during the release of a video for global women's rights campaign, she said that she was sexually abused as a child by a family friend. Not only that she also admitted that despite being a celebrity, she also faced other forms of abuse like groping, touching, verbal abuse and other things
  7. Madonna - Pop queen Madonna was raped at the start of her career and that too at knife-point. In a candid interview with Harper's Bazaar magazine, the singer had revealed she was sexually abused by a stranger at knife point shortly after arriving in New York City from Michigan to pursue her dreams.
  8. Ashley Judd: She is one of the highest-paid actresses of Hollywood. But Ashley Judd was also a victim of sexual abuse in her childhood and youth. She was brutally raped several times during her childhood and youth. In her memoirs, she has revealed how she was lured into an empty building by a stranger who said he was going to give her a quarter for a pinball machine. Then the stranger molested her. Somehow, though she managed to fight the perpetrator off, her family refused to believe her when she told them about the horrible incident. After this she was also raped during her modeling days when a male model allegedly forced her to perform oral sex for him.
  9. Pamela Anderson - She recently revealed that she was molested at the age of six (by a female babysitter), raped when she was 12-year-old (by her friend's 25-year-old brother) and gang-raped in high-school by her boyfriend and his six friends
  10.  Rhea Chakraborty - The actress, who made her debut in Bollywood with 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti', was molested recently inside her building premises. The pretty actress has filed a police complaint accusing a man of groping her in the elevator.
One must salute their guts to be open book. It takes real courage for someone to speak up in public about their ugly past ordeals. We honestly don’t know how many more such horrific cases are about to be unearthed. If Celebs are unsafe, then what about the common citizens… Think about it1

Box Office Records – SHAHRUKH KHAN

It was the climax scene. The Hero had stabbed the villain. The reason – he had kidnapped his wife and was about to marry him on cruise boat. Alas, the hero’s arrival changed everything. But something else also happened in the theatre hall when we were watching this scene. There was a pin drop silence. Ideally, the audience should have whistled and clapped on the villain’s death. But they were not. Some of the girls were crying on is death … That movie was DARR and the dying villain was SHAHRUKH KHAN.  This film even soured the relationship between SUNNY DEOL, the Hero and Late YASH CHOPRA, the Director, as he felt that the director gave him a raw deal and all the sympathy was swept away by the Antagonist. Such was SHAHRUKH’s  power that a similar role in a previous film, where he again plays the antagonist, was a hit. Historically no actor would dare to do the same role back to back. That would be a disaster for one’s career. Not in this case though. In SHAHRUKH’s case, a Star was Born...

Today, Shahrukh Khan is one of the biggest success stories in the industry today. Born in New Delhi on 2nd November 1965 and brought up in the coastal city of Mangalore for the first five years of his life, Shahrukh made his debut in the Hindi Film Industry about 2 decade ago with Deewana (1992). This film that won him his first Filmfare Award for Best Debut Male.
In the same year, later,  Shahrukh starred in Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. But, the turning point in his career, however, came with the earlier mentioned two films in 1993 where he played characters with grey shades – Yash Chopra’s Darr and Abbas-Mustan’s Baazigar.
Though 1995 was a landmark year in his career. Two of the year’s biggest blockbusters, Rakesh Roshan’s Karan Arjun and Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge released and the latter went on to become one of the biggest blockbuster in the history of Indian cinema and firmly established Shahrukh as the biggest superstar in the country. DDLJ is still running at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai! By the end of 2015, it will complete its 20 year run.
In the following years, SRK gained iconic status with romantic films like Yash Chopra’s Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Subhash Ghai’s Pardes and Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which remains one of the biggest hits of his career.

The beginning of the 2000 though was probably the toughest of Shahrukh’s career with the media pitting him against Hrithik Roshan who made a successful debut in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. The two had a epic clash at the box office during Diwali in 2010 when Hrithik’s Mission Kashmir released on the same day as SRK’s Mohabbatein. While Mission Kashmir opened to a better response initially, it was Mohabbatein that eventually won the Diwali clash.
In the last decade or so, Shahrukh consolidated his status as one of the most bankable stars in the country with successful films like Devdas, Chalte Chalte, Kal Ho Na Ho, Main Hoon Na and Veer Zaara. The actor was unable to maintain his success streak when Swades and Paheli failed at the box office. But this was followed by 10 back-to-back successful films that started with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and continues with his latest blockbuster Chennai Express. Below is   SHAHRUKH’s  Box Office Record*.

SRK has maintained this consistency and has carried it forward to the next decade. He has made it to the Top 2 six times and Top 5 eight times. He has been unsuccessful just once and also had no release one year. But, as described above, SRK has been challenged several times since 2006. But even with the onslaught of new stars, SRK is the only KING KHAN of Bollywood.

HOLIDAY Soon to Enter 100 Crore Club

Rowdy Rathore grossed 130+ crores at the Box Office. But that was in 2012. After that a series of Hits, Semi-Hits, Averages and Flops, Akshay’s film is yet to re-enter the coveted 100 crore club. But with Holiday (2014) making all kinds of right noises, his dream to finally taste the 100 figure is finally coming true. Lets analyse its Box Office performance…
Holiday made an opening day income of 12 crores with the income multiplying to 42 crores by the draw of its first weekend and the first week total approaching 70 crores almost. Surprisingly, Holiday emerged as the leader collecting a total of Rs. 19.37 crores over its second weekend (15th June), thus trouncing the previous leader 2 States that featured Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt and collected Rs. 15.53 crores.
Taran Adarsh, Film Critic and Trade Analyst, tweeted, The 10-day collections of "Holiday" stand at ₹88.05 crore. "#Holiday [Week 2; revised figures] Fri 4.36 cr, Sat 6.31 cr, Sun 8.70 cr. Grand total: ₹ 88.05 cr nett. India biz. Excellent!,"
Though both Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaarra! and BOSS failed dismally at the box office, Akshay’s hold over his audiences remained unfazed. OUATIMD suffered primarily due to the clash with Chennai Express. It was a huge shocker when the film made 65 crores only at the box office. Probably it was the failure of OUATIMD that affected Boss as well. It was an above average film that flopped with a lifetime earning of merely 54 crores.
With Holiday still running in theatres, and the multi-starrer Humshakals releasing this Friday, one wonders whether the film will be able to last another weekend in the theatres and cross the century mark. Lets analyze Akshay’s past Box Office performance…
Akshay Kumar is the only actor who made it on his own, without the help of any ‘godfather’. It’s worth mentioning that except Akshay, all the top stars of today started  their careers with superhits, winning Filmfare Award for Best Male Debutant each – Aamir Khan (Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak – 1988); Salman Khan (Maine Pyar Kiya – 1989); Ajay Devgn (Phool Aur Kaante – 1991); Shahrukh Khan (Deewana – 1992); Hrithik Roshan (Kaho Na Pyaar Hai – 2000).
His debut film Saugandh (1991) was a box office failure and he had to wait till his 4th film to get his first success in Khiladi (1992). To earn the Superstar tag which he enjoys today, he had to climb up the ladder of 16 successive flops until he rediscovered himself with Jaanwar (1999) This film is considered to be his comeback film and is one of the biggest hits in Bihar of those times. Although, this was a high point in his career, it won’t be wrong to term 2007 as the year of his rebirth at the box office. He is not a star with the best acting skills, but he is definitely the one who is complete and versatile. For him, Action and Comedy are his forte and he’s league ahead of his competitors in these genres.
Akshay Kumar is the 2nd actor after Rajendra Kumar to have given 4 successive Hits in the same year (2007: Namastey London; Heyy Babyy; Bhool Bhulaiya; Welcome). He still holds this record. He is also the only superstar to risk his stardom 3-4 times in a year. While at times he got paid off for this courageous attitude (2007 and 2012), mostly large number of releases have adversely impacted his success rate.
It’s also worth mentioning that he hasn’t got any extended weekend releases (National Holidays) in his entire career and that’s what makes the difference today when it comes to making/breaking records. Anyone who has even a slight idea about box office can never doubt Akshay’s star power to generate excellent openings and pre release buzz. During 2008-2010, even his average films got bumper openings. It is a fact that has to be accepted that 2011 saw lukewarm openings for his films but quite unexpectedly he came back with a bang making Rowdy Rathore and Housefull 2 amongst the Biggest non-holiday Openers of all time.
Akshay’s box office potential may largely be attributed to his huge fan following. And the major reason behind this loyal fan backing is his self-made-man image with no filmy background which appeals radically to the common man. His journey from being a waiter in Bangkok to becoming the Highest Paid Actor is really an inspiration for all youngsters.

With Holiday reviving Akshay’s star power, benefiting massively from it will be his upcoming films It’s Entertainment and Gabbar. For now Holiday is almost a winner with 100 crore at bay for it.
